Volunteers are an invaluable resource, with each moment spent with students contributing to their overall success in life.
National Volunteer Week is a time to celebrate volunteers, recognize their impact, and encourage volunteerism in our communities. It is celebrated annually in the third week of April. This year, it is April 17-April 23.
Aldine Independent School District is taking this moment to thank volunteers for their hard work of volunteers throughout the district.
Each year, hundreds of parents and community partners donate their time and efforts toward supporting AISD students. Volunteers contribute by mentoring, tutoring, fundraising, career education, enrichment programs, extracurricular and community service activities, and office and classroom assistance.
Volunteers directly enhance the relationship between the school, home, and community. Parent volunteers strengthen their ties with their children’s school. Community volunteers and mentors provide a bond between the student and a respected adult. Volunteers also have a tremendous impact on the overall success of the educational system. Each moment spent with a student contributes to their overall success in life.
National Volunteer Week can also be referred to as “Volunteer Appreciation Week” or “Volunteer Recognition Week.”
According to the Urban Institute’s most recent data, Americans volunteer 8.8 billion hours annually. Volunteers help organizations like Aldine ISD fill critical gaps in service for nearly every community.
