Five Aldine ISD schools offering the program are taking applications now for the 2020-21 school year.

Families with students in prekindergarten at five campuses — García-Leza, Vines, Hinojosa, Magrill, and de Santiago — can talk with their child’s teacher about having their children begin kindergarten in the 2020-2021 school year in the schools’ English/Spanish Two-way Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program.

The schools’ staff have been reaching out to families about the program to make them aware. The program promotes biliteracy, bilingualism, and biculturalism. Two-way dual language is another choice for Aldine ISD students.

The Aldine Independent School District’s Two-Way Dual-Language Immersion Program offers new opportunities for families to become part of this proven method that helps students become proficient in two languages.

Students can start the program in kindergarten and continue the dual-language program throughout their elementary, middle, and high school years.

Requirements to Apply

  • Must be an incoming kindergarten student who meets Aldine ISD’s enrollment requirements for kindergarten and lives in the attendance zone for one of the schools offering the program — García-Leza, Vines, Hinojosa, Magrill, or de Santiago.
  • A prekindergarten student at García-Leza, Vines, Hinojosa, Magrill, or de Santiago must have a recommendation from his or her teacher to enter the program.
