Aldine ISD will no longer be handing out paper packets for prekindergarten through grade 5 students; instead, those packets will go out by mail beginning this week.
Chief of Academics Dr. Todd Davis stated that mailing the packets should ensure that families that need the packets receive them. He also added that the measure would ensure that everyone maintains social distancing to be safe.
The packets will begin being mailed the week of April 20, and depending on a student’s grade level, it could take 7-10 days for families to receive them. All families with students in PreK through grade 5 should receive the packet no later than May 4.
The district used families’ contact information in the Home Access Center (HAC) system as of April 13.
The packet consists of five-weeks’ worth of activities (in English and Spanish) — reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.
The content found in the prekindergarten through Grade 5 packets can be downloaded from the district’s At-Home Learning site. Click on “Here for Current Resources.” It should lead to a “Students” page. Click on “Grade Level Resources.” Next, scroll down to find the packets for your student’s grade level.
If families or students have any questions about the activities in the packet, or if they do not receive a packet for each of their children enrolled in prekindergarten through grade 5 by May 4, they will need to contact their child’s teacher using Schoology found in the district’s At-Home Learning site or email.
Secondary students (Grades 6-12) will not receive paper packets.
