Hello! My name is Miyaka Griffith and I am one of the Structured Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities teachers. This is my first year at Garcia-Leza EC/PK but third year teaching. I graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Special Education. Previously, I worked in Austin, TX as a Life Skills Teacher and Cheer Coach. Currently, I am studying to receive my Masters in Special Education with a certificate in Autism at St. Joseph’s University. I believe that all students can learn and communicate. My goal as a teacher is to create a learning community filled with love, dignity, and respect. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to work at a wonder-filled place with awesome support and amazing students.

Marissa Elam     Marissa Elam

My name is Marisa Elam and I attended college at the University of Texas at San Antonio. I am currently enrolled in graduate school at Lamar University pursuing a master’s degree in counseling. I grew up in a very small town in Southeast Texas and enjoy everything that a larger city has to offer! This is my third year teaching, and my second year to teach at the Pre-k level.  I am extremely passionate about teaching and love to learn about new, innovative teaching strategies.   My motto is that every child is capable of learning where there is patience, motivation, and support.
